Xavier Clua farms 10 hectares separately from his family's other 15 around the village of Vilalba dels Arcs in Catalunya just south of Monsant. This is the heart of the up and coming Terra Alta region where there are some impressive wines being made these days. This young winemaker is definitely one to watch as he's producing astounding wines for very little money.
We arrived at this winery just in time. By the summer of 2004, Xavi had already sold out all of his 2003s except this one (which was not yet bottled). We bought a large percentage of it and intend to visit the winery earlier in the year the next time around. |
