| | Benito Favaro and his son Camillo tend just over 3 hectares of vines in and around their hill town of Piverone in the Piemonte region of northern Italy. They specialize in Erbaluce, the rare indigenous grape in their DOCG area of Caluso located 50km northeast of Turin. As of the 2010 vintage, Erbaluce di Caluso has been recognized for DOCG (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) status. The Favaro family sees themselves as guardians of a unique cultural heritage of the Erbaluce varietal which can be traced back to the early 17th century in their area. |
