Indigenous to northern Italy and more specifically the Friuli region, Refosco dal Peduncolo rosso is a dark-skin varietal that produces very hearty, intense red wines.

Dark violet and purple to the eye, this wine has a dark, intense color.  With a floral nose of violets and roses, there are some gentle forest aromas as well as crushed rock mineral notes.  Tannins are firm and somewhat angular in its youth, the wine will soften with age and mellow into a gorgeous wine with notes of coffee, smoked meats and spices while retaining the original burst of bright berry fruit.
