The Malcorta strain of Verdejo was on the verge of extinction, having been pushed aside in favor of more modern clones that are easier to grow. The stems and wood of these vines are extremely hard and difficult to prune, which accounts for its unusual name. After 20 years of research, Javier Sanz planted a vineyard of Malcorta with cuttings from older vines he had identified in other Verdejo vineyards in his holdings.
This wine expresses a very intense dynamic of minerals and bright acidity. Citrus and floral notes sparkle through to make a truly unique and intriguing wine. The persistence on the palate is impressive. |
