100% Vijariego Negro
From a small single vineyard parcel bearing the same name. This varietal is rarely vinefied on its own as it produces more structured wines that need time to age. Higher tannin levels are the norm, but with a couple years of bottle age, this can be quite fun. Although somewhat rustic, it carries good tension and freshness. Some floral notes from whole cluster fermentation lead into a serious, somewhat austere wine. Nice warm flavors develop with air and this will go best with hearty winter fare. |
