4.5 hectare single vineyard planted in 1970. 10,000 vines/hectare. 100% Pinot Noir. Soils are clay and sand with large chunks of broken limestone. Southeast exposure. Yields are capped at 35 hl/hectare.
This large monopole single vineyard, with no neighbors, located directly below the estate in upper Santenay was ideal to begin the transition to organic farming. The soils are fairly deep which make for a wine that is both rich and broad with fairly early drink-ability.
The classic Pinot Noir nose of raspberries, earth and some spice lead into a mid-weight wine with nice cut and some mineral notes and plenty of luscious richness. Though not overly complex, it is exactly what we often seek in Burgundy. A versatile drinking window combined with gorgeous ethereal weight and aromatics, which can only come from this unique region, keep you coming back for more. Super food friendly and an excellent value.
