Vineyard: Planted in the late 1960s in the village of Comblanchien near the border with Corgoloin. Organically farmed, incorporating some biodynamic principles and minimal plowing so as to not disturb the soils. Strict debudding to limit yields and encourage good concentration. All grapes are picked and sorted by hand at harvest.
Harvested at optimum ripeness (always determined by consistent tasting in the vineyards), Whole cluster semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel tank; indigenous yeast fermention. No sulfur added in vinification. One year of ageing in barrel, 10% of which is new. Touch of sulfur added at bottling.
Old vine parcel planted by Antoine's grandfather, which is a neigboring vineyard to Les Essards. This verdant north-south facing tends to produce a powerful and explosive Pinot with a potential to age 10 year or more. |
