Saumur-Champigny, La Chaintrée, R. N. Legrand

This Cabernet Franc is produced from 45 year old vines, and the resulting wine has a dark purple/red color with intense berry and earth notes in the nose. In the mouth it has sophisticated ripe tannins, excellent acidity and a wonderful array of earth, game and dark fruit flavors. Still a baby, it will age for 10-15 years, but pour it in a carafe tonight, and watch it sing.
